Opening bank accounts in Ukraine for foreigners

To open a bank account for a foreigner, the following documents must be presented:
- Original international passport.
- It is important to take into account that the stay of a foreigner on the territory of Ukraine must be legal. This is confirmed by the presence of a visa in the passport or under the conditions of visa-free entry - exit and notes about this in the passport. The number of days of stay in Ukraine recorded in the passport should not exceed 90 days per year.
- A document that contains information about a foreigner's place of residence or stay in Ukraine. This information can be presented in the form of a verbal application, but any documents may be required for confirmation, for example, a document about payment for hotel accommodation.
A document confirming the source of the foreigner's funds. Opening an account is a paid service, so the bank may request payment of an annual service fee. A foreigner must also have a document that confirms the legality of the origin of the funds that he plans to use to pay for banking services or top up his account.
Although banks usually do not require a passport translation into Ukrainian, it is recommended to have a passport translation before opening an account.
This is important because the transliteration of the surname and first name must correspond to other Ukrainian documents.
It is also necessary to have the registration number of the taxpayer's registration card in the State Register of Individual Taxpayers (identification number of an individual).
This number is issued within 7-10 days by the tax authorities of Ukraine, so it is important to plan your stay in Ukraine taking into account this period.
